Local Area

Located on the border of Northumberland and County Durham, Cronkley is perfectly placed to explore both counties.  If you fancy venturing further afield, there’s a huge array of places to visit. The historic market towns of Hexham and Corbridge are a short drive away, alongside a range of cultural and natural sites, including Hadrian's Wall and Roman site remains. Slaley Hall’s international standard golf course and spa and Allout Adventures is just down the road too.

Check out our handy google map guide for local attractions.

Spa at Slaley Hall

In case you’re tempted by some pamper time. (Spa in Northumberland | Spa in Hexham | Slaley Hall Hotel)

Golf at Slaley Hall

(10 minute drive)

There are two 18-hole golf courses which have hosted international tour events. (Hexham Golf Club | Golf in Northumberland | Slaley Hall Hotel)

Playground at the Waterside Parks

(10 minute drive / 20 minute walk)

This playground is great, with a large array of wooden play equipment. Our kids can stay entertained here for a long time. You can grab a hot drink - or ice cream at the cafe/shop and there are toilets too. It’s worth checking out the Waterside Parks news page if you’re staying over any school holidays as they are really good at putting on events for kids and adults too (a few paid, but also lots for free). We enjoyed a great free ‘try it’ taster fishing session with our kids. They often offer things like Axe Throwing & Target Games, creepy creatures, Fun Runs, and seasonal things like pumpkin carving or easter egg hunts.
